PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing completed a challenging weekend in the UK today. As the FIA Formula 2 Championship lined-up again at the famed Silverstone circuit for race 2, Nyck De Vries showed good speed starting from the front row of the grid. The Dutchman stayed in the hunt for a podium finish but eventually started to experience tire degradation and that marked the end his chances. De Vries eventually ended up in seventh place and is now looking forward to the next round of the series starting at the end of July in Budapest.

Sean Gelael, who crossed the line in 16th place, also drove a preparatory race for the next round, having experienced some struggles in the early phases of the weekend that basically wiped out his chances to fight. The Indonesian, as well as his team-mate and the whole Prema stable, is fully committed to fighting back in the upcoming rounds.

“I was just trying to finish the race and get everything settled to find the best solution for Budapest already. It wasn’t the best race pace wise and managing tires and everything, but I think we learned quite a bit from this weekend especially moving forward in what we need to improve. Hopefully, by Budapest, we will have the time to analyze everything and come back to where we should be.”

Race 1: P7 Fastest lap: 1:45.333
Race 2: P7 Fastest lap: 1:44.701

“The pace was really good at the start of the race and I was hoping that we could hang on, because I felt that the whole balance was quite neutral. We started struggling with our tires a little too early. I tried to hang on and stay within the DRS of Günther but in the end but we had rear tire degradation and that’s why we didn’t manage to maintain our position and ended up out of the podium zone.”
