PREMA Theodore Racing had a promising weekend at Hockenheim. The ADAC Formel 4 Championship played as the support act of the Formula 1 Grand Prix of Germany, and the team delivered two podium finishes in race 2, which was the final one in a unique weekend for the series.

Race 1 proved particularly tough after a complicated qualifying session with mixed conditions.
Brazilian Enzo Fittipaldi was the best finisher of the Prema camp with a fourth place. The FDA-supported racer then carried on with a positive third place in race 2 and confirmed his third place in points.
The best result of the weekend came from talented British racer Olli Caldwell, who delivered an amazing comeback from the fourth row of the grid to second place.

Gianluca Petecof also put up two positive runs with P6 and P7 respectively for his best weekend in the series so far. Last but not least, Jack Doohan posted a really valuable fourth position to reverse his fortunes after some struggles with the transition from the British championship.

“A bit of a mixed weekend, qualifying was confusing and we didn’t power our potential with the mixed conditions. In race 1, we got a very good recovery from P14 to P6 with a good pace too. We knew we could fight in race 2, but starting P10 there was a very big mess in the midfield and I had a few close calls and incidents that kept me from coming forward. Again, we had very good pace and ended up in P7. This was one of the best weekends we had here in Germany with no retirements and no problems apart from qualifying. We can be satisfied with P6 and P7, and confident for when we will come back.”

“Practice didn’t go to plan. The switch from the British car to the Italian and German car was a little too much from the day before and I don’t think I was prepared the best I could have been. In qualifying 1 we stayed out on slicks and we came in for wets there was a red flag and I didn’t end up getting a lap which put me last. qualifying 2 was good, we managed to go out, put some laps in the slick tires and end up fifth. In race 1 we started from P24 and finished in P12, but I didn’t have the pace to go more forward. Then, in race 2 I started in P5, got a good start and I was able to get to third at one point of the race. I was demoted to fourth when my teammate passed me and then there were some wheels touching among teammates but I was able to stabilize in the fourth position.”

“Qualifying was almost good, it was wet at the start and then there were difficult conditions, but we managed to put a lap together right at the end that put me P5. In qualifying 2, the track was just dry and we managed to get P8 which isn’t my best qualifying but put us in an okay position for race 2. In race 1 we were unlucky, I made a really good start, got up to fourth and then I got some unfortunate contact. On the other hand, in race 2 we managed a really good comeback. I think I did some really great moves and finished second which I’m really really happy with. Now we look forward to the next round which will be in Imola for the Italian Championship where I’m sitting third and the next German round at Nurburgring.”

“FP went well but qualifying wasn’t the best with the mixed conditions. It wasn’t really what we wanted, and we qualified in P8 and P6. We had good recoveries though. We went from P8 to P4 with some good overtakes, I was feeling very good and liked the balance of the car, I had the pace to fight with the frontrunners. Then in race 2, I had a pretty good start from P6 and it was basically a battle from P2 to P5 for the whole race. I ended up P3 and I had the pace to stay up front but when I got close to my teammate in P2 I was just getting the dirty air and understeer. I was never close enough to overtake: I just had one shot but braked a little bit too late. He axed me back at the exit: I lost an opportunity and I learned from it: now we’ll move on to the next race.”
