Hockenheim, Germany,

With the Team Championship secured after Race 2 the whole team hoped for another win to finish the season on a high.

It was another 1-2-3 grid for Prema Theodore as the lights illuminated for the last time this year. Maximilian Günther had the perfect start, keeping hold of the lead. Ferrari Academy Driver Zhou jumped into P2 as Callum Ilott fell into P6. After getting into P11 Mick Schumacher was forced to pit due to damage on his front wing after contact with Ralf Aron. The German then tried his best to climb the field, managing to improve to P18. After a few laps Zhou lost P2 to Joel Eriksson. The Chinese driver then showed consistency for the rest of the race fighting off Jake Hughes to take his second third place podium of the weekend. Callum Ilott retained P6 for the majority of the race before sneaking up the inside of the hairpin on Hughes to take P5. For Günther it was a matter of controlling his own race as he increased the gap from Eriksson lap by lap, taking an unchallenged, stunning lights to flag  victory, his fifth win of the season.

It was a good ending to the season for Prema Theodore Racing after clinching the 2017 Team Championship title the day before. Now the team looks onto the last race of the Italian F4 Championship, next weekend before heading to Macau for the 64th Macau Grand Prix.

Teddy Yip commented:
“I can only wholeheartedly congratulate René and this entire team, as well as all our partners. It’s thanks to the support of forward thinking companies like BBIN that we are able to compete at this level. It’s a testament to team work that we’ve been able to bring home this championship again.”

# 3 – Maximilian Günther
“It was pretty much an ideal race for me. I was good off the line and went straight to the lead. I soon started to pull a gap and at some point, I got a 4.5-second margin, I was controlling the race. I also managed my tires and everything else well. It’s a nice feeling and I’m really happy to take the win in the season finale in front of all the German crowd in the Motodrom.”

# 8 – Guanyu Zhou
“I’m really happy to get on the podium again as it’s the first double podium of my Formula 3 campaign, very pleased with that. The car felt great and we got a clean start and I even gained one position. During the race, Eriksson was strong and passed me and then in the final laps, Lando was within a second so it was pretty intense. I tried keeping a good rhythm with no mistakes and eventually, it paid off.”

# 25 – Mick Schumacher
“The start was not so bad The initial jump was maybe not as good as the other ones but still decent so I caught up with the guys in front. Through turn 1 everything was quite OK. Going to turn 2 I found a position on the outside of Ralf Aron. We went through turn 2 together and it was very tight, then going into turn 3 we made contact so I damaged my front wing. From then on we tried to use it as a training session and we were really constant which is quite good.”

# 53 – Callum Ilott
“I made a mistake at the start, but after that, it wasn’t so bad, I managed to recover up to the 5th position. Unfortunately, it’s something that happens every now and then so I tried to do my best considered the situation.”
