PREMA Theodore Racing enjoyed a rewarding weekend in the 2018 German Formula 4 Championship opener at Oschersleben. After a challenging qualifying session, the team rebounded to take the first win of the season with British sensation Olli Caldwell in race 3. In addition, Enzo Fittipaldi made it a 1-2 finish, but the Brazilian also secured valuable points with a fourth place in race 1 and a third place in race 2. He is now standing second in points, while PREMA Theodore Racing leads the way in the team standings. Caldwell was also able to capture a triple points finish this weekend and is P4 in points.
Completing the team’s line-up for the 2018 F4 opener, Gianluca Petecof experienced a positive debut at the German venue. The Brazilian scored a rookie win with a sixth place overall in race 2. He was equally impressive in race 1, ending his first ever single-seater race in P8.

“Overall it was a very positive first weekend in formula racing. It was good to be up to pace in all three races. The first one was a bit tricky, but race 2 and in particular race 3 were good. In race 3 I stayed in front with the leaders at a very good pace. Then towards the end, a couple of maneuvers didn’t go quite well and in the final lap, fighting for the podium, an incident cost us a penalty. It’s part of racing, you always have to go for it when you have the opportunity. I was trying my best. With such good weekend, I think we can be in a good position for the championship”.

“Qualifying on Friday didn’t go as planned but we managed to get good starts in race 1 and race 2 which handed us some points and the reverse grid pole for race 3. Then in race 3, I managed to get another good start and just held onto a comfortable lead. Even after the safety car, I had a good re-start and kept making a bigger gap to the guys behind as the car felt great. The weekend didn’t start as we planned, but by the end we were there and we got a win, you can’t complain about that. Prema did an amazing job and I want to thank all my sponsors for supporting me.”

“It was a great weekend. We had a very strong pace and we qualified in second and third position respectively which was extremely positive. I’m really happy with that, and with the work we did throughout the weekend. The races went really well. We struggled a bit with the starts but we got it fixed for race 3 so we got two podiums and a fourth place. We had a very consistent run with a good amount of points to start the year. I’m really looking forward to the next race.”
