Despite not contending for wins, PREMA Theodore Racing brought home two podium finishes and more valuable points in the third round of the German Formula 4 Championship at Lausitzring. Enzo Fittipaldi posted three solid results with a second place in race 1 followed by a double P6 in the following two heats. Despite being involved in a multi-car contact in race 1, British racer Olli Caldwell rebounded to a positive third place in race 2 to show his full potential, before securing a valuable P7 in race 3. Brazilian rookie Gianluca Petecof, who is quickly increasing his experience while still being at his first single seater experiences, lost good chances with two contacts in race 1 and 2, but then showed great skills with a powerful recovery from the back to P9 in race 3. The next round for PREMA Theodore Racing will be on the first weekend of June at Monza for the Italian Formula 4 Championship.

“I think the weekend was far from ideal. We couldn’t quite find the balance of the car in free practice so we headed into qualifying a bit in doubt and we actually didn’t have the pace to fight at the front from the start. The races proved pretty disappointing too. In race 1 and 2, I didn’t finish because of contact. In race 2 I was fighting for P8 and the pole for race 3 when I had the contact with another driver and was forced to retire. Race 3 had a not too bad ending starting from the back of the grid to take points in P9. Now we have to focus on qualifying. Starting strong can give a different face to a whole weekend.”

Olli Caldwell, #64

“Really difficult weekend here in Lausitzring, being involved in a big crash in Race 1 didn’t help us, but we managed to get a podium in race 2 and good points in race 3. Looking to learn from this weekend and keep consistently being in good positions for the future races.”

Enzo Fittipaldi, #74
Qualifying 1: P8                       Fastest Lap: 1:46.028
Qualifying 2: P7                       Fastest Lap: 1:45.824
Starting Grid Race 1: P8         Race 1: P2
Starting Grid Race 2: P7         Race 2: P6
Starting Grid Race 3: P3         Race 3: P6

“We didn’t have the weekend we were expecting. In testing, we were very quick here but unfortunately, we didn’t do it good in qualifying. We learned, kept improving and had a good race 1 finishing P2, then in both race 2 and 3 we finished P6. We had more potential and I’m confident we’re there. We just have to keep making improvements, go maybe one step higher in driving and with the car. I’m happy, we just didn’t have a great weekend but now we are looking ahead to the next race and keep positive.”
