PREMA Theodore Racing can celebrate for wins and leads after the opening round of the Italian Formula 4 Championship. The Italian squad, lining-up not too far from home at Adria, cruised to victory in Race 1 and 3 with Enzo Fittipaldi, and the Brazilian, who also secured P3 in race 2, is exiting the weekend as the overall points leader. The team’s amazing form was confirmed by fellow Brazilian Gianluca Petecof. The promising youngster brought home three rookie wins and a stunning second place overall in race 2. Two more points finishes completed the job and, in addition to leading the rookie rankings, he is sitting third overall while PREMA Theodore Racing leads the team competition.

British racer Olli Caldwell faced a challenging weekend after scoring a brilliant win last weekend in Germany. The 15-year-old racer posted a fourth place in race 2, and then produced a remarkable recovery to P8 after an early mishap in race 3. Last but not least, Emirati female racer Amna Al Qubaisi enjoyed an outstanding debut weekend. Despite the lack of experience, she performed well from practice and even got close to the top-10 overall in race 2, ending just shy of the rookie podium.

“Overall it was a pretty good weekend, we had a great pace in the free practice and we were able to take good results in qualifying. In qualifying 1 we took P3, then P4 in qualifying 2 and P2 with the second best lap from qualifying 2. Race 1 was a bit tricky but I finished P5. I had a very good race 2 from P4 to P2 in the beginning and then stayed there, claiming my first overall podium in single seaters in P2. Race 3 was a big mess, we didn’t have the best pace but, in the end, we could bring the car home to finish P7. It’s quite a good beginning for the championship. We’re always out front in terms of pace and we just have to sort out the final things. It’s my first year so I’m still learning the dynamics of a weekend, but I’m very satisfied with how the weekend went. The team did a mega job, as usual, helping me with everything, and leaving Adria P3 overall in the championship as a rookie feels really really good.”

“This weekend was disappointing, we had good pace in qualifying but unlucky in the races. An incident in race 3 put me down to 18th but I managed to fight back to 8th which I can take some positives from. Aiming to do better in the next weekend for sure though”

“It was a very good weekend with pole position for two races and P2 for the other, and I’m really happy with how it continued from there. The car was fast and we had a strong pace all the time. In the end, we got two wins and a third place. I’m happy with the results and the good points. We worked hard as a team in testing and I think we really deserved the wins to reward the team effort. There is some homework to do before the next round, but I’m really looking forward to the next races.”

“My run throughout the weekend was very good. I had the pace to be in the top-10 and I was P4 in rookies, my best finish being a P12 with a very good lap time. This weekend was all about gaining experience in my first car event. So far it has been a great surprise for me to do this well. I want to thank my sponsors Kaspersky Lab, Italia Independent, Renoir Consulting, Garage Italia and Gaudì Jeans for their full support and the Team Prema for the hard work.”
