07 September 2025 - Super Trofeo Asia

Champions!

Sepang 7th September
Asian motorsports team SJM Theodore Racing has won the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Series Teams Title for 2025, after securing an unassailable points advantage with one event to go

A second place finish in race two at Sepang, Malaysia made it 10 podium finishes from 10 races this year and continued the team's remarkable run of never finishing lower than second this season.

Delivering another trademark battling performance, the number 32 Lamborghini Huracan started from pole position, dropped to fourth but then fought through to finish on the tail of the leader all the way to the chequered flag after 50 minutes of racing.

Macau's Charles Leong started from pole position knowing that even a lowly points finish would be enough to rubber stamp the team's title success. Having suffered all weekend from the debilitating effects of food poisoning, the Macau driver settled in to play the long game. He adopted a cautious approach on lap one and settled into fourth place with a focus on preserving the tyres for the second half of the race.

Leong ran fourth all the way to mandatory pit stop which the team opted to take after lap 12 when Alex Denning took over. Swift pit work meant he resumed right on the tail of the third place car and when a safety car was called into duty on lap 16 of 21, the field was bunched up for a hectic and dramatic finale.

The race resumed with three laps to go and Denning quickly set about the task of moving into a podium position. That box was ticked as the erstwhile leader dropped back and Denning then took over second place on the penultimate lap of the 5.4km circuit with another incisive piece of overtaking.

The race concluded with Denning and the leader in line astern and as the chequered flag fell it was the signal for scenes of celebration in the Theodore Racing pit with Teddy Yip Junior and the squad finally able to relax after securing the series title.

With two Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia races still to run at the final event of the season, the Lamborghini Super Trofeo World Finals in Misano, Italy, in November, Theodore Racing can focus on continuing their remarkable run of podium success secure in the knowledge that the main objective has already been achieved.

Both Charles Leong and Alex Denning are level on points at the top of the driver's standings heading to Misano and oncourse for more title glory for Theodore Racing.

Charles Leong
“That was an amazing job done by the team again and we've won the championship. It was a very good team effort and everyone did the right things during the whole year. There were no big mistakes, we focused on keeping it consistent and we won.

"It was amazing. For the race at the start I was expecting a little bit more group but it was hard to fight against the people around with the new tyre. At the end I was just following my own pace and managed the tyre and tried to give the best car to Alex. So we can have a good run at the end. I think everything followed the plan. It was a very good weekend again..”

Alex Denning
“It's a big relief. I think the race went as good as it could do. It was kind of risk management when trying to overtake Ethan, so it couldn't take quite the same risk.

"I still went for the overtake to get P2 overall. I'm just really relieved. A massive thank you to all my sponsors for making this work. We had a tough couple of years previously with lots of reliability issues and it's nice to be able to get some consistent results. So big shout out to them and thanks to all the team.”

Teddy Yip Jr., Team Principal – SJM Theodore Racing:
“I'd like to congratulate everyone in the team on this achievement which has been a collective effort throughout the season, and indeed for many months and years before that.

"The drivers responded to the pressure wonderfully and I'd like to thank Charles, so sick throughout the weekend, for his fortitude, resilience and amazing performance. Alex, too, delivered another fast and consistent stint to deliver a tenth top two finish from 10.”
