SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing Chase Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia Victory in the Land Down Under

The pair impressed with the SJM-backed team at the opening round of the prestigious six-stop, pan-continental sports car series by taking two second place overall finishes on their debut at Malaysia’s Sepang International Circuit last month. Quickly harnessing the formidable power of the Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, the talented duo threw down the gauntlet to their international field of rivals to collect two podium finishes and enter the PRO leaderboard in second place, just seven points off the lead.

Up next for two-time Macau Grand Prix winner Leong and former W Series driver Koyama is the challenge of a brand new track in the form of The Bend Motorsport Park. Located approximately 100km southeast of the South Australian capital Adelaide, the4.95km FIA Grade 2 circuit features 18 turns and a 1,000 metre straight. Despite several of their rivals amongst the 20-strong field having the advantage of previous experience of the track, Leong and Koyama have youth, talent, versatility – as well as burning ambition - on their side, and expect to be on the pace from the start.

As one of the world’s leading one-make series, with championships in Europe and North America as well as Asia, all Super Trofeo drivers compete in identical Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2 race cars, the most high-performance version of the model ever created and featuring radical aerodynamic refinements over its predecessor. The 5.2-litre naturally aspirated V10 engine delivers up to 620 CV of power, and the car’s impressive performance and reliability ensures a level playing field on which talent and racecraft prevail.

Driver Quotes:

Charles Leong Hon Chio:

“SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing made a fantastic Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia debut in Malaysia and I can’t wait to build on that success in Australia. We know we have the pace and, although Miki and myself are still getting used to the car and have not raced at The Bend before, I relish the opportunity to rise to the challenge and fly the flag for Macau in Australia.”

Miki Koyama:

“Racing with SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing has been an amazing experience so far, and we will be going all out to take victory this time around after our two strong podium finishes in round one.”
