SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing leads Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia championship into Japan double-header
SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing leads the Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia PRO championship title chase as the prestigious, international series heads to Japan’s 4.563km Fuji International Speedway for round four, and the penultimate double-header held on Asian soil this season from August 16-18.
Macau star Charles Leong Hon Chio and Japanese team mate Miki Koyama will be looking to continue their eye-catching debut season by building on their points advantage at the top of the PRO leaderboard across the two, 50-minute races on the challenging track located in the foothills of the sacred Mount Fuji.
The track, which features a formidable 1.475km straight, is one of the most iconic in Japan but one which punishes the smallest error harshly, meaning wheel-perfect accuracy and unwavering consistency – which has been the hallmark of the team’s debut season thus far – will be crucial.
Never absent from the PRO podium across the six races completed so far in Malaysia, Australia and South Korea, and bolstered by the continued staunch support of Macau-based premier integrated tourism and leisure enterprise SJM, Leong and Koyama have yet to clinch a race victory in their Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO2, despite their five-point lead of the championship. In Fuji, SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing aims to break their victory duck, although both drivers will be mindful not to allow their natural instinct to win to compromise those all-important championship points.
Charles Leong Hon Chio:
“SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing arrives in Fuji leading the championship having already proved both our consistency and our pace in our debut season. While both Miki and myself are determined to take our first victory, we both know this track can be a harsh taskmaster so the whole team will need to pull together to execute another perfect weekend.”
Miki Koyama:
“As one of my home circuits, I would be proud to take our first victory together with Charles and SJM Iron Lynx Theodore Racing in Fuji in front of my compatriots. As the penultimate round in Asia, and the start of the second half of the season, these two races will be crucial both psychologically and in terms of championship positions.”
Teddy Yip, Chairman, Theodore Racing:
"Theodore Racing is always seeking new challenges to push the boundaries with our motorsport projects. The Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia is an exciting & demanding championship. We are thrilled to be competing in this prestigious series.
I am truly delighted that we have been so successful in our rookie year. I am most impressed with our race results. Charles & Miki are driving superbly. They have adapted so well to this high-performance racing series. I can't wait to see how our team goes at the iconic Fuji Speedway circuit this weekend. Hopefully our first win can't be too far away.”
