Nyck De Vries scores more points with P4 whereas Sean Gelael does not finish due to a technical issue

PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing secured a points finish today in the final race of the FIA Formula 2 Championship at Spa-Francorchamps. Taking-off from P8 on the grid following yesterday’s spectacular win, Nyck De Vries put together an amazing start, diving into turn 1 in P3 and then quickly cruising to second place.
He maintained the same position for the most part of the day, putting up a consistent pace. In the closing part of the heat though, he started struggling with rear tire degradation and dropped back to P4 in the final lap.

The overall balance of the weekend remains largely positive for the 23-year-old Dutchman. On the other hand, Indonesian Sean Gelael faced a hydraulic issue which forced the 21-year-old racer to retire. As well as De Vries, he will be back in full shape next weekend for the home round for the team at Monza.

“The way this race ended really sums up our weekend: in times like these, you don’t know if you want to laugh or cry. One thing is sure, in Monza it will be similar to last year, and we’ll be competitive.”

“Maybe I’m a little bit disappointed with P4 today, because we were running good after a mega start and a great first couple of laps. Unfortunately, we were struggling a bit with our rears today. Nonetheless, I think this has been a very good weekend and we can look back to a lot of positives. We should take them away and improve further for Monza so we can keep fighting at the front and for2 wins. Thank you to the team, everybody did a great job, all weekend.”
