Weekend to forget for both PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing Drivers

It wasn’t an easy weekend for sure for PERTAMINA PREMA Theodore Racing at Monza. Lining-up with good hopes for the home round of the season, the Italian squad ended the weekend with no points scored despite showing great pace and overall speed, always recovering from the setbacks encountered.

Nyck De Vries was set to start race 2 from the 9th spot on the grid but could not launch for the formation lap. He was forced to start from the pit-lane and put up a brilliant recovery up to 12th place, showing great potential.

Indonesian Sean Gelael had pace and consistency too. The 21-year-old racer was aiming for a top-6 finish and proved highly impressive as he chased today’s goal. Unfortunately, while battling his way up, he was tagged by another contender under braking which resulted in a dangerous spin and ultimately forced him to retire.
The whole team is now looking forward to the final stint of the season starting at the end of September in Sochi, Russia.

“Sometimes you just want to get angry! Our start wasn’t good as we were in a damp spot as well, but we recovered everything in the first two laps. I was positive and the pace was really good. We had the potential to fight for sixth place. Unfortunately, everybody saw what happened with Boschung. Moving under braking is not OK and we already talked about it this season, but he did it anyway and that cost us a big contact. In the end, it wasn’t as bad as it could have been here at Monza. On to the next race, another pointless weekend but it gave us a good step forward with the balance that will hopefully help us for the next races.”

“Sure it was a tough weekend. Everything which could have went wrong did. I don’t think we did many mistakes in the first place, maybe today we could have prevented them. I don’t know why but we seem to have a lot of issues with the clutch at the moment and that results in many difficulties. We did two decent comebacks but in the end, we go home with nothing. We just have to move on and come back stronger.”
